Level 1 – Beginners swing dance class (Mondays and Wednesdays 7-8pm)
A drop in beginners class — anyone can attend and join any time. No partner required. No need for special shoes. We cover all the basics from scratch (20s Charleston, 30s Charleston, 6 and 8 count Lindy Hop, solo Jazz, and Collegiate Shag), and add different moves every class.
Level 1.5 – Improvers class (Mondays 8:30-9:30pm)
This class builds on the content from our Level 1 class and introduces some new and fun things too. It’s perfect for those who want to learn more moves and technique while getting to the next level of social dancing – if you were comfortable in Level 1 why not stick around?
Level 2 – Intermediate class (Wednesdays 8:30-9:30pm)
This class is for dancers who know 6 and 8 count Lindy Hop, including swing outs, Charleston, and can social dance to a song. At this level we focus on musicality, rhythm and shape variations, and following/leading technique. Fun is included!

Find Us

Here is where you can find us dance every Monday and Wednesday.

Swing Patrol is a large community of dancers with passionate teachers and amazing performers. It was founded by Scott Cupit and Claudia Funder in 1998 in Melbourne. A decade later, Scott reached London and made it one of the liveliest scenes in Europe. Swing Patrol also shares the joy of Lindy Hop in Sidney, Berlin and more recently Brighton. It was more than time for the community to reach the burstling cosmopolitan hub of Leiden, Netherlands, in 2017! Claire and Marcello started Swing Patrol Leiden under the wing of the incredible dancer and mentor Scott Cupit.

Claire moved from Paris to London after her studies in public health to train in modern jazz. There, she also discovered swing, and embarked on a journey back through the history of jazz dance. With her partner Marcello, she also enjoys challenging the laws of gravity with aerials. Claire started teaching with Swing Patrol London in 2017.

Marcello started lindy-hopping like crazy in London. He is warm and fun, in life and in dancing. His musicality makes him a very expressive and sharp dancer. Marce loves aerials and performed some of his cool moves with Air Patrol. Physicist by day, he started teaching lindy hop with Swing Patrol London in 2017.

Claire and Marcello are a French-Italian explosive duo. They learnt from London’s finest dancers, such as Scott Cupit, Paula Ryan, Steph Kokay, Peter Grange, Patrick O’Brien, etc.
